Dr. Thomas E. Wolf

In Memorial

Dr. Thomas E. Wolf, 91, a dentist for many years in Lancaster, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at Brethren Village following an illness.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Emily Irene Rudisill Wolf.

Dr. Wolf was a 1936 graduate of Lancaster Boys’ High School, where he played varsity football, and a 1940 graduate of Millersville University. He worked at Olmstead Air Force Base and then served in the Army Air Forces during World War II.

Dr. Wolf took premed classes at Franklin & Marshall College before entering the University of Maryland Dental School, graduating in 1952. Following that, he spent two years in the Public Health Service aboard a ship off the Aleutian Islands before returning to Lancaster to practice dentistry.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Lancaster; Masonic Lodge 43, Lancaster; the Lancaster County Shrine Club; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite; Elks Lodge 134, Lancaster; American Legion Post 34, Lancaster; and the Lancaster Old Timers Athletic Association.

Dr. Wolf also was a member of the Lancaster County Dental Society, Pennsylvania Dental Association and American Dental Association; the Retired Officers Association; the alumni associations at Millersville University and the University of Maryland Dental School; and the Hobbs-Wickersham and Ad Astra societies at Millersville. He was a contributing member of the Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Karl, Clarence, Donald and Raymond Wolf, and a sister, Emily Wolf. He is survived by nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Christ Lutheran Church, 407 Lafayette St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. James Emmerich officiating. Friends may greet the family at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Private interment in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dr. Wolf’s memory may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 407 Lafayette St., Lancaster, PA 17603.
