Richard G. Kirchoff (Dick) has been reunited with the love of his life. He entered into rest June 5, 2025, 93 years young; although he would say that he was still in his 70’s. He was the beloved husband to his high school sweetheart, Deloris Miller Kirchhoff, who preceded him in death. His life forever changed the last 8.5 years.
He was born May 28, 1932, on Prince St. in Lancaster, PA. The 2nd son of Walter Kirchhoff and Miriam J. Ruth Kirchoff. Dick was a proud graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School class of 1951 and enlisted in the US Navy. He was assigned to the USS Benner for the duration of his enlistment. He would say he was a “Tin Can Sailor;” who always attended the Navy reunions. Dad and mom were members of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, where their family attended for 60 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason, and was a member of Andrew Hershey 764, Lodge 43, Zembo Shriners-Harrisburg Lancaster County Shriners, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection and Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
An avid hunter, he spent many years at the hunting camp in Millerstown, PA. His den reflected his love and success of seasons spent hunting deer, turkey, small game and the elusive. Jack-A-Lope hunting season wasn’t complete if evenings weren’t spent at The Moose! His Canada hunting trip was always a talking point, where he bagged his black bear, that graced the corner of his den, full standing mount.
Dick is survived by his loving family, who treasured this humble, caring, loving, generous man whose knowledge, kindness and dedication was utmost on his mind. He leaves behind his daughter, Vicky Suter of Lancaster, PA his son, Scott Kirchoff of Palm Coast, FL. He was the proud grandfather to Matthew Suter, Ashley Ulmer, Yonna Leed, Ann Lauer and Ivy Kirchoff. Great-Grandfather to Keira, Gabriel, Michael, Jaxon, Avrianna, Jett, Ashlyn, Alex, Daniel and Eva. Also surviving are nieces, Sharon Duncan, Karen Eckert and nephew, Irvin Weaver and his sister, Kay Wilson and a brother, Frank Potts. He was preceded in death by brother, Walter Kirchoff, son-in-law Lou Suter and daughter-in-law, Dodi Kirchoff.
