Helen Louise Keller Slaugh, 102, of Oxford, PA, formerly of Lancaster, PA and Kill Devil Hills, NC, passed away on June 9, 2025 at Ware Presbyterian Village. She was the loving wife of the late Harold James Slaugh to whom she was married for 63 years before his death in 2009.

Born in Easton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence G and Florence (Shaw) Keller.

After graduating from Easton High School in 1940, Mrs. Slaugh began her career as a proofreader for Mack Printing until her marriage in 1946. From 1966 until 1984, she was employed by Hamilton Watch as a data processor.

Helen was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church where she had been a member of the choir and soprano soloist.

She was a lover of classical music and enjoyed attending the NY Metropolitan Opera, Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra. She and her husband were co-founders of the Outer Banks Chorus while residing there.

In her spare time, Helen was an avid reader and enjoyed watching baseball and tennis. She loved the beach and swimming but most of all, time spent with her family, especially during their annual camping trips across the U.S. She was also a multiple medal winner in the Senior Olympics.

Surviving are four daughters: Marylu S., wife of Larry L Tyger of Little River, SC; Kathryn S., wife of David E. Hearn of Wilmington , DE; Rebecca L., wife of Brian L. Martin of Lancaster; and Nanette S., wife of Michael J. Bertrand of Strasburg. Also three sons: Gordon J., husband of Linda Slaugh of York; Martin W., husband of Este Slaugh of Leola, and Michael A., husband of Darlene Slaugh of Millersville. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren: Drew and Stephen Tyger; Michelle, Christina, Gordon, and Eric Slaugh; Joanna Ruppert; Naomi Brewington; Matthew Hearn; Elizabeth Hornberger; Jessica Chapman; Justin Martin; Jacqueline Ottens; Michael, Paul, Caroline and Jacob Bertrand. Also, 25 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Slaugh was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amelia Hearn, and by a sister, Mary Lucille Howell.

Our family wishes to express its thanks and appreciation to everyone at Ware Presbyterian Village and Willow Tree Hospice for their care of and devotion to our mother.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church , 517 N. Queen St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Stephen P. Verkouw officiating.
