Patricia “Pat” Ellen Myers (nee Murphy) passed peacefully on Saturday, June 7th, 2025 at age 85, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by family in her home in Lancaster, PA.
Pat was born March 14, 1940 in Baltimore, MD to the late Edgar Clement and Dorothy Marie Murphy. She was one of seven children. The family lived in Baltimore where she attended Seton High School class of ‘58. After graduating, she moved to New York City with friends and worked as a secretary.
In 1966, Pat started working for Eastern Airlines as a ticket agent at the Lord Baltimore Hotel. Here, she met her instructor, George, who would soon become her husband. Pat and George were married in October 1967 and started their family in the Philadelphia area with their daughter, Valerie. Pat continued to work various jobs throughout her career, but always wanted her free time to invest in her passions and family.
Pat had a genuine interest in people’s lives. If you met her in the grocery line, you’d leave with a new friend. Her caring spirit drew people to her. Pat loved God and lived out her faith and strong beliefs. She was also a fierce protector of the underdog and would stand up for anyone who needed it.
Pat loved being out and about. Her “happy place” was the beach. She had an eye for color and a love for art. She enjoyed attending art shows, museums and galleries with friends and family. Her passion was painting. Anyone who saw Pat’s watercolors could tell that she was a talented artist who found beauty in nature.
Pat and George moved to Lancaster, PA in 2005, after she retired from KenCrest. Pat cherished time with her grandchildren. She attended every one of their activities and cheered them on. She was passionate about supporting the Hempfield sports teams. If she wasn’t watching a game, she was often volunteering in the elementary school art classes, sharing her talents with her community.
Pat graciously battled dementia, but remained the same curious and kind lady. She is now with her Lord in Heaven. She will always be remembered for her creativity and ability to make others feel special.
Pat is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, George Myers, daughter, Valerie Kareis (David), grandchildren, Lauren, Brendan, and Ryan McGlaughlin, and sisters, Kathleen Murphy and Jane Ottinger. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Joan Bevard, Edgar, Michael, and Robert Murphy.
We’d like to thank Compassus Hospice for their caring support during this difficult time.
