Betty L Ressler was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She lived a long Godly life following in the footsteps of her Lord & Savior Christ Jesus. She graduated from Penn Manor High School and from Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing. Her nursing career began as a private duty nurse. Eventually her nursing career led her to Dermatology Physicians for 35 years. In between nursing jobs, she raised four children: Brenda, Steven, Beth, and Beverly. Betty was a loving, patient, attentive Godly mother. Betty enjoyed traveling with her husband Clair to places near and far in the US, Canada, Europe, Oberammergau, and Bermuda, to name a few.
Betty had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. In her later years, she was known for her participation in all sorts of activities at Calvary Homes, especially volunteering. She received the award “Volunteer of the Year in 2019”. A few volunteering activities included the welcoming committee, stamp group, and preparing communion. Even though a failing body took her away from this world, her loving heart left a beacon of light for all of us. Her cheerful attitude, bright smile, and loving kindness will be sorely missed.
Betty L Ressler went peacefully to be with her Lord & Savior on Wednesday August 16, 2023 at Calvary Homes, Lancaster, PA. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 13, 1935 in Mountville, PA to Christ & Mary Millhouse. Betty was the second sister in a family of three daughters. On February 24, 1957 Betty was united in marriage to Clair M Ressler. They shared 54 years of marriage until Clair’s passing on January 24, 2011.
Betty is survived by her four children: Brenda (Donald) Shank of Harrisonburg, VA, Steven (Dawn) Ressler of Lancaster, PA, Beth (Joseph) Farnish of Lancaster, PA, Beverly (Steven) Cox of Mountville, PA, eleven grandchildren; Adam (Marisa) Shank, Katelyn (Joel) King, Bryce (Kristen) Shank, Zachary Ressler, Alexa Ressler, Joe (Brittany) Farnish, Laura Farnish, Tyler (Tara) Cox, Melissa (Alex) Sauder, Ashley Cox, Rachel Cox, and 9 great grandchildren.
