Wayne A. Godfrey

In Memorial

Wayne A. Godfrey, 92, of Homestead Village in Lancaster, PA, died Sunday, June 20, 2010. He was born in Clarkston, Utah. He was the husband of the late Mary H. (Gutridge) Godfrey who died in 1976 and the husband of the late Barbara (Stovall) Godfrey who died in 2007.

An Army veteran, Wayne served in Europe during World War II. After the war, he returned to college and was graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1947.

He began his career in corporate purchasing and contract administration with U. S. Steel Corporation in San Francisco, CA and in 1964 was transferred to the U. S. Steel headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA. In 1971, he and Mary moved to Tucson, AZ, where he served as purchasing director for St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Wayne is survived by two sons: James R. Godfrey, married to Janette (Hegwood), of Lancaster, PA and Robert W. Godfrey, married to Renata (Eibe) of Pittsburgh, PA.

He is also survived by two granddaughters, Alicia Mary (Godfrey) married to Jeff Horst of Brownstown, PA and Abigail Marjorie (Godfrey) married to Paul Wilson of Woodstock, GA, and one step-grandson, Christopher Loren of Pittsburgh, PA. Two great-grandsons, Joel and Justin Horst, also survive.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
