Tips On Giving A Funeral Eulogy

Giving a Funeral Eulogy for Loved Ones

Most people would probably say they dread giving a funeral eulogy. This is partly because one of the biggest fears most people have is public speaking, and partly because it is so difficult and emotional to summarize a person’s life story in a series of moments.

In the event that you, or someone you know, needs to learn how to give a eulogy, we’ve compiled some funeral etiquette tips for you.

If You Are Asked To Give a Eulogy:

  1. Giving a eulogy is a good thing for you
  2. eulogyDon’t feel like you have to accept this offer
  3. Creating a eulogy will be difficult
  4. Don’t worry about time
  5. Remember who to speak to
  6. Be sure to put your thoughts in writing
  7. You might be struck with emotion or cry
  8. Practice, practice, practice
  9. Prepare yourself for in case something goes wrong
  10. Consider using humor in your eulogy

Best Tips on How to Give a Eulogy

During any good funeral eulogy, you can expect that there will be moments of panic, silence, laughter, sadness, or moments when the speaker gets choked up. Giving a eulogy is almost always accompanied by challenges and surprises. This is one of those things you can fully prepare for, but have no idea what to expect.

However, if you can find the strength to take advantage of this great opportunity, you will be glad you were able to tell your story and express yourself with so many others who share in your thoughts, feelings, or grief and loss. And no matter what happens, no matter what you say, no matter how you feel before or after, you will be loved and appreciated by those in attendance, as well as those listening above.
