What is your role at the DeBord Snyder Funeral Home?
As president, my role is to help the nest generation with any questions that they may have and to lead them in the right direction for the future.
How long have you worked as a Funeral Director?
36 yrs.
What is your favorite thing about working at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory?
The opportunity to work with really nice, compassionate and professional co-workers every single day.
What made you want to become a funeral director?
I enjoyed working and helping other people.
What do you do for fun outside of work?
Playing golf, tennis and enjoying our grandchildren.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
Today, I would have to say Ft. Myers, FL.
What is one thing I recommend someone does/visits when they come to Lancaster?
The Fulton Opera House. Downtown! They have some great shows for everyone.
What 3 words would your friends use to describe you?
Humorous, trustworthy, organized.
Before working at DS, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
Working with the Lancaster Recreation Commission. Again, working with people.
Any random fact about your self you want to share with us?
I have a great sense of humor.
What is your favorite quote?
Never give up.
If you could witness an event past, present, or future, what would it be?
One Step For Mankind. Walking On The Moon.
Do you have a secret talent?
Decorating and cooking.
What do you miss the most about being a kid?
No worries, just playing and having fun.
What was your favorite show growing up?
Mchale’s Navy.
Do you volunteer anywhere?
First United Methodist Church.
If you could be on any TV game show, which one would it be?
Jeopardy! Because I like to think and try to answer the very challenging questions.
What was the last thing you heard or saw which made you laugh?
My youngest grandson with a life jacket on getting ready to go to the beach. Pretty funny.
What’s the one piece of advice you would give to others about life?
Live to its fullest. Because it can go by fast.
Name one item from your bucket list?
I would love to go to Fiji.
What is the hardest part of being a funeral director?
Working with families who have lost a baby or child.
What is the most rewarding part about being a funeral director?
Helping family members through a sometimes difficult time. Being there for them.
If you could have one wish granted, what would it be?
That my whole family would be healthy and happy.
What person in your life has had the greatest influence on the person you have become?
I would have to say my wife – Diane. She helped me get through school and has kept me on the right track ever since.
