Samuel L Miller, 83, died in the arms of the angels and went home to Jesus on April 30, 2013, at Masonic Village Health Care Center. He was a wonderful loving husband of 67 years to the former Elaine M. Strohecker who also resides at MasonicVillage.  He was an endearing father to three daughters: Lucinda, married to Franklin Zimmerman; Susan, married to Gilbert Hulshizer; and the late Monica Moyer. He was a special “Pap” to seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

He was born in Williamstown, PA on August 22, 1929 to the late Elmer and Mae (Smith) Miller. He is survived by two sisters and two brothers: Betty Snyder of Murfreesboro, TN;  Grace Boyer of Gratz, PA;  Robert Miller of Corinth, NY; and Charles Miller of Harrisburg, PA; and predeceased by two sisters and a brother: Dorothy Miller, Elsie Ritzel and Lee Miller.

He was a graduate of LykensHigh School where he played varsity football and baseball for three years. He worked for Bethlehem Steel Company at the Grace Mines in Morgantown, PA where he led the safety team and served as Vice President of the Twin Valley Credit Unions and chairman of the credit committee at Grace Mine. He was the Mayor of Terre Hill, PA, from 1967 to 1973 and was a member of the Association of Mayors of Boroughs of Pennsylvania.  After relocating to Wyoming in 1978, he worked and retired from Exxon Mobile in January 1993. He enjoyed hunting and camping with his wife and children while living in Wyoming and Texas. After retirement he spent seventeen years relaxing with Elaine in the Florida sunshine until they moved to the Masonic Villages in Elizabethtown. He loved country and spiritual music and was a member of Christ’s church where ever he lived.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service at John S. Sell Chapel of Masonic Village, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA, on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 11:30AM. Family will be available for a brief greeting at the Chapel from 11:00AM until the start of the service.
