Richard J. “Dick” Rimert, Sr.

In Memorial

Richard J. “Dick” Rimert, Sr., 75, of East Petersburg, peacefully entered into eternal life on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Moravian Manor. He was the husband of the late Romaine Bradley Rimert who passed away in January of 2005. They had been married for 51 years.

A resident of East Petersburg for over 55 years, he was the son of the late Ralph and Carrie Conlon Greenly. He was a 1952 graduate of Hempfield High School. Dick was a truck driver and retired from Binkley & Ober Quarry with over 30 years of service, and also worked part time at Eby’s Service Station. He also delivered fuel oil for various companies. After retiring, he enjoyed delivering flowers for Root’s Flower Shop and the Landisville Flower Shop. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, East Petersburg.

Surviving are: 3 sons, Rev. Dr. Richard J. Jr., husband of Diane Shelly Rimert of Mohnton, Robert J. Rimert, companion of Vickie Ellis of Rheems, Donald L. Rimert of Lancaster; a daughter, Debbie L. wife of Kennard Paules of Lancaster; 4 grandchildren, Matthew, Travis and Amanda Rimert, and Dennis E. Meck, Jr.; a great grandson, Benjamin Rimert; 4 siblings, June Althoff of Horseheads, NY, Lorraine Rimert of Columbia, Kenneth husband of Amelia Greenly and Dawn wife of Charles Watts, both of Elizabethtown.

Funeral services will be held from the Zion Lutheran Church, 1905 Broad St., East Petersburg on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 11 AM with interment following in the adjoining cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday evening at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, from 6 to 8 PM and on Wednesday at the church from 10 to 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Ronald McDonald House, in memory of Jennifer Ann Rimert, 745 W. Governor Rd., Hershey, PA 17033 or to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
