Julie and family – We are all at a loss for words. Rick was a beloved member of our organization. He was an entrusted and respected member of our leadership team, but more than that, a friend and confidante to everyone that worked with him and knew him. His absence is so felt by our Phillips family and has left a terrible void within our organization. Please know that we are thinking of you and sending our deepest condolences during this difficult time.

Condolence from Joyce Rheinheimer on April 29th, 2016 8:24 am

Rick was a great man and fun to work with. While working with Rick at MTS TRAVEL, I appreciated his wonderful sense of humor. One of his lines that I will never forget is, “I have a unique, developmental challenge for you.” That only meant he had some, tedious, mind-numbing job that needed done and I was the lucky one chosen to do it. When he left MTS, he shared the “treasures” from his desk–mementos he had collected over the years. I was touched when he pulled out an airline barf bag and explained it was from the first flight I ever went on (with him and Jeff Schmid) and that he’d never seen anyone turn green before. To me, that indicated friendship. I regret not keeping up with Rick over the past 20 years. I do know I will see him in Heaven one day and that Heaven has just gotten a little more laughter with his arrival. Julie, my heart is breaking for you and Andy and I am praying for you daily. May God’s grace surround you at this time.

Condolence from Michelle Burger on April 29th, 2016 9:32 am

Julie,

Words can’t even begin to express how very sorry I am to hear of this news. I worked with Rick at Phillips and I enjoyed him very much. We would often banter back and forth giving each other a hard time, all in good fun. His laugh & smile was priceless. That is what I will remember the most about him. He was gentle and kind. He loved you so very much, that was so clear. When I would go in his office, the first thing you wold see is an 8×10 picture of you. May God share your burden with all of us to help carry you, your family and friends through this very difficult journey.

Condolence from Missy Chaffee on April 29th, 2016 10:47 am

I am so sorry to hear of Rick’s sudden passing. I worked with him in the accounting department at Phillips and he was also such a great man to work with. He was always smiling and was always there to help with any issues when needed. I will treasure the coffee mug he made for us a few Christmas’s back. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your son and everyone that loved him.

Condolence from Hope Roadcap on April 29th, 2016 11:35 am

I’m certain no words can ease your pain at this time so I’ll simply say “I’m sorry for your loss”. I worked with Rick at Phillips for many years. He was a trusted mentor and friend. I will always remember his smile, the way he laughed, the way he would ponder your question or comment (often with his fingers to his forehead and temple) and especially his “good-good”. I find myself thinking of his phrase often and trust it will be a constant reminder to me of Rick. I’m not only sorry for Andy and your loss, but also to the many who thought so much of him.

Condolence from Babe Quintrall on April 29th, 2016 11:52 am

I am sorry for the loss of your dear Richard. May you find comfort in the promise of our Heavenly Father: “He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.” Isaiah 25:8- Tears of sorrow will be replaced by tears of joy, until then may you continue to draw strength and comfort from God, family and friends. All the best wishes for your family at this time.

Condolence from Elaine and Bill Mullineaux on April 29th, 2016 8:10 pm

Julie , Andy and Amanda. We were blessed beyond measure to call Rick friend. his laughter, joy and smile lit up the room and his adventurous spirit was inspiring. We smile remembering when we went camping, hiking, and just spent time together when the kids were small and how fabulous it was to belong to the FUMC family. Rick meant so much to so many people. We pray that God carries you as you walk in this dark valley and gives you comfort and peace as you walk on in life. Our hearts ache with you and may it help just a little to know that you are loved. Although you must say goodbye to Rick. It is only for a while. Can you imagine his joy at being home? You will be together again and what a party that will be!

Condolence from Linda Loser on May 6th, 2016 1:03 pm

Julie and Andy,
I never had the pleasure of meeting you, but I know you are wonderful people as it was reflected in the happiness and contentment of Rick. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with him at Phillips for almost 20 years. He was always, always a pleasure to be around and as others have stated was a great leader with his honesty, integrity, kindness, and humor. There is no greater joy on earth than to love and be loved, and Rick had that joy…thanks to both of you. Words cannot express the loss that will be forever in the hearts of all who knew him. May knowing how many lives he touched in a positive way help comfort you in the long road ahead. God Bless.
