Raymond C. Horn, 84, of Ephrata, WWII veteran and RCA retiree, joined the Lord on Saturday, February 7, 2009. He entered the Army Air Forces in 1942 and, like millions of others, contributed to the campaigns in The European Theatre of Operations; namely Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe and the Ardennes where the Battle of the Bulge took place. It was here that he was reunited with his brother, Richard, who was in a field hospital after being severely wounded by shrapnel. They both often thought of it as scene straight from MASH.
After the war, Ray went to college and graduated from Notre Dame, Cum Laude. In early 1951, he joined RCA and enjoyed a long career spanning several U.S. locations that included positions of Personnel Manager of the Somerville, NJ plant, as well as a host of assignments throughout the world. In particular, he worked with projects that involved establishing color TV plants in Poland and Russia.
Originally from Chicago, Ray is survived by his wife Jean; a daughter: Kathy Leidheiser wife of Ken, Glen Mills, PA; two sons: R. Patrick Horn husband of Myrna, Hilton Head, SC; Dr. Thomas Horn husband of Shaunda, Utah; two stepsons: Sean Quick wife of Suzette, Ephrata; Kevin Quick, Ephrata; seven grandchildren: Raquel Horn, New York City; Kevin Horn, U.S. Air Force Academy; Kyle Leidheiser and Korey Leidheiser, Glen Mills; Adam Quick, Alex Quick and Roselynn Quick, Ephrata; and his sister Charlotte Strauss, Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Zofie Horn, and his brother, Richard Horn.
