Patricia E. Goscilo, 71, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 after a car accident in West Lampeter Township.

She is the loving mother of Nicole Wentz and Sabrina Chambers.
She was born in Jamaica, Queens, NY to the late Edward and Mary (Feeley) Hanahoe. She is a 1964 graduate of Mary Louis Academy and earned her R.N. from Bellevue Nursing School. Pat was employed as a visiting nurse for Nursing Sisters of Rockville Centre, NY and more recently as a claims executive for Physician Reciprocal Insurers.

Family and friends will remember her genuine love, joy, hugs and bright smiles. Pat loved life and was always ready to laugh and share a fun and crazy story of her life. Pat was thoughtful, caring and always willing to help anyone in need. She surrounded herself with those she loved, which were her children and grandchildren, her family and her adored pets, Sammy and Martin (dogs) and Figgie and Fergie (cats). She loved going to the movies or Broadway shows with her daughters. She enjoyed photography and travel and was most proud of the African safari she went on several years ago. She won numerous prizes for her photography, and loved bird-watching as well. She was an avid reader, who loved watching baseball and took great pride in attending her children and grandchildren’s school and sporting events.

Pat is survived by her daughter Nicole, wife of Dr. Jeremy Wentz of Clarks Summit, PA and Dr. Sabrina, wife of Justin Chambers of Lancaster, PA. Additionally, she is survived by her six grandchildren (the great loves of her life), Jackson, Brielle, Colton, Caleena, Jace & Jocelyn. She is also survived by Sister Maureen Hanahoe, a sister of Maryknoll Sisters of Ossining, NY, sister Joanie, wife of Tom Schalk of Massapequa, NY and sister Eileen, wife of Robert Gotkin of Massapequa, NY. She was loved by her surviving nephews, Tom and Gregory Schalk and Ryan Gotkin, all of Massapequa, NY.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home, 141 East Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Wednesday, March 22nd at 2:00 P.M. Friends may greet the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service.

One of Pat’s favorite things to say was to “make it a great day!”, and she made it a great life, for herself and so many others. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Lancaster Co., 2195 Lincoln Hwy E. Lancaster, PA 17602.

Dear Nicole and Sabby,

Pat had tremendous spunk and a wonderful sense of humor. I recall lively, laughter-filled conversations when both of you were still small. Those memories won’t fade. Only time will ease the tremendous sense of loss.

Nicole and Sabrina and family –
Words can not express my sadness at hearing the news about your Mom. I have shared many happy times with Pat and cherish the memories. We first met as freshman living on the same floor in the residence. We were close friends all through nursing school and after graduation Pat was a member of my wedding party. We were all so happy to have been together in May at our reunion. Pat had a heart of gold and cared about everyone. She will truly be missed! She was so proud of her children and grandchildren and loved you all so much. You are all in my thoughts and prayers!

Condolence from Liza Argue on March 21st, 2017 9:27 am

Dear Nicole and Sabrina and family,

I’m so shocked and saddened by this senseless loss. Pat was lovely and I always enjoyed seeing her at family events throughout the years, the last being Sabby’s baby shower for Jace. She always lit up the room with the love for her daughters and grandchildren. She did a great job raising both of you into kind and intelligent women, and she must have been so proud of the lives and families you both created. I’m sure you both would agree that one of the greatest gifts a mom can ask for is to live to see your children prosper and be happy. I’m grateful Pat not only saw you both happily marry and have your own families, but that she was such a regular part of your lives. I imagine that fact must make this tragedy even harder, but it also leaves no occasion for regret. I hope that as horrible as this situation is, you will find comfort that your mother had no question about where she stood in your hearts and your families. Love you all very much and my deepest sympathy and condolences, Liza
