Vera L. Williams, 85, peacefully passed away on April 30, 2025, at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy. Born in Allendale, SC, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Gussie (Best) Williams.
Vera dedicated much of her professional life to domestic work at the World Trade Center. In her spare time, she cherished shopping, hosting dinner parties, and baking her famous fruitcake and rum cake (she is the reason many in our family didn’t understand why most people disliked fruitcake 🥰). Above all, she loved spending quality time with her friends and family.
A devoted member of St. John Holiness in Allendale, South Carolina, Vera's parents, Willie and Gussie Williams, were among the three founding couples of our family’s home church.
Vera is survived by her son, Alan (Al) Barry Moore; her beloved granddaughter, Nikisha (Niecy) Harrison; three brothers, Willie Williams, Tommy Williams, and Conrad Grant; one sister, Jahne (Williams) Bell; nieces Tina Lott, Sara Singleton, Peggy Lott, Monica (Williams) Plummar, and Adrianne Bell; and nephews Bryan Williams, Armand (Andy) F. Williams, Christopher Williams, Gregory Williams, Richard Lott, Tyler Lott, and Derek Williams, along with Asia Plummar, Zendya Plummar, and her “buddy” Bennett Plummar, and many great nieces and nephews.
The beloved saints in Heaven welcoming Vera home include Aunt Carrie Mae, Blanche Williams, Ralphe Williams, Gussie Mae (Williams) Lott, Priscilla Williams, and Jasmine Gabriella Green.
There will be no formal services, and the burial of her cremated remains will be private, carried out at the convenience of the family.
