Theodore “Pappy” Steinmetz

Theodore “Pappy” Steinmetz, 79, of Lancaster, died Monday, October 11, 2010 at Hospice of L a n c a s t e r County.  Mr. Steinmetz was married 41 years to Barbara R o d g e r s Steinmetz. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late James and Mildred Cox Steinmetz. Theodore retired from UGI in 1993 following 30 years of employment.  He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lancaster, and the Quarter Century Club at UGI. Ted was an avid fisherman who took great pleasure in teaching his children and grandchildren to fish. He enjoyed working in the basement workshop, but nothing pleased him more than being with his family.  Theodore served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Vicki wife of Tom Mumma and Lisa wife of Fred Nitchie, both of Lancaster;  a son, Robert Fry loving partner of Rose Settembre of Kutztown; 11 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred wife of Robert Leonard of East Petersburg, and Rose wife of George Chapple of Lititz; four brothers, Donald husband of Yvonne Steinmetz of Lancaster, Karl husband of Margaret Steinmetz of Amarillo, TX, Jay husband of Shirley Steinmetz of Cape May, NJ, and David Steinmetz of Wyomissing, PA. He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, 517 North Queen Street, Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Stephen P. Verkouw officiating.  Friends may greet the family following the service. Interment in the Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 517
