Robert W. Arnold, 74, of Willow Street, PA died at home on Friday, April 24, 2009. He was born February 16, 1934 in New York City, and married Janet Nina Bartram Arnold on December 19, 1954.

Mr. Arnold received a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY; a Master of Electrical Engineering Degree from Syracuse University and a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Denver, Denver, CO.

Mr. Arnold joined IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1959 and his career at IBM was extremely varied. As IBM grew, his responsibilities grew in the USA and Europe and was moved to Boulder, CO to their new research and manufacturing facility. He was based out of Boulder, CO for many years until his retirement at which time he joined his wife as Managing Partner at MRI located in Broomfield, CO. They moved to Willow Street, PA in 2005 to join their family

He loved family, sailing, skiing and hiking.

Surviving besides his wife is a daughter Janet Elizabeth Arnold wife of James Arthur Gratton and a granddaughter Janet Elizabeth Gratton

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Arnold’s memory may be made to the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 110 Eighth Street, Troy, NY 12180. He will join Son, Paul Dudley Arnold and his wife’s parents in the Bartram Family Plot in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
