Richard D Moore

Richard D. Moore, Jr, 79, who resided at the Long Community at Highland, passed away at Lancaster General Health Penn Medicine on March 4, 2024 after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of the late Sallie Ann Moore who preceded him in death in 2006.

Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Richard D Moore, Sr and the late Ruth Gideon Moore. After graduating from high school, working at Kunzler’s, RCA, and a few other odd jobs, he settled into his much-loved career as the groundskeeper for a 65-acre estate known as Beechdale Farms, for over thirty years. This is also where he spent his spare time, outdoors with his family and pet dogs.

Richard is survived by a son, Richard D. Moore III, husband of Kelly Kimmich Moore, Willow Street, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three sisters and one brother.

Services were held privately in Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to The Benevolence Fund of The Long Community c/o PSL, 1 Trinity Drive E, Suite 201, Dillsburg, PA  17019.
