Richard Henry (Dick) Klemm

In Memorial

Richard Henry (Dick) Klemm died at Lakeside at Willow Valley on Sunday, January 11, following a lengthy illness. He was 77 years old.

The son of Richard F. and Sophie (Leyman) Klemm, Dick was born in Floral Park, NY, on August 10, 1931. He received his BS degree in civil engineering from Bucknell University and his MBA from New York University. He served as a corporal in the US Army during the Korean War.

Dick retired in 1981 from AT&T and assumed the position of Vice President of Finance for GTE. He later was named Executive Vice President, Portfolio Management, for Warburg Pincus Investments. He was a licensed Professional Engineer and member of the Society of Security Analysts.

Following retirement from Warburg Pincus, Dick and his wife June renovated a 300-year-old farmhouse and opened the Boxwood Inn, a bed-and-breakfast in Akron, PA. The Inn was featured in numerous books and magazines.

Dick was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and Tau Beta Pi honorary engineering fraternity, a Fellow in the Financial Analysts Federation, and a member of American Legion Post 409.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, June (Christ) Klemm; daughters, Janet Brozynski and Lynda Stadtmueller, both of New Jersey; son, Rick of Atlanta; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will take place Saturday, January 24, at 9:30 A.M. at the auditorium of Spring Run at Willow Valley, 950 Willow Valley Lakes Dr., Willow Street, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of Lancaster County, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604, www. hospiceoflancaster.org or the National Parkinson’s Foundation, Office of Development, 1501 NW 9th Avenue/Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136, www.parkinson.org.
