Rev. Robert (Bob) Wilson Tanguy

Rev. Robert (Bob) Wilson Tanguy, loving husband, father, grandfather, pastor and friend, passed away at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community on Sunday, August 29. Born December 5, 1926 in Greenville, PA, Bob was the son of the late Clair Daniel and Lillie May Baker Tanguy.
Bob served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Westminster College, New Wilmington, PA in 1951, and his Master of Divinity degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 1954.
Ordained to the United Presbyterian ministry in May, 1954, Bob served pastorates in Harrisville and Uniontown, OH; East Liverpool, OH; Jersey Shore, PA and the Middle Octorara United Presbyterian Church of Quarryville, PA. He also served as visitation pastor of First United Methodist Church, Lancaster, PA.
Bob was a member of the Presbytery of Donegal, U.P.C.U.S.A., in which he served as Moderator in 1978. He served on the Ecclesiastical Responsibilities Committee and as a member and chairman of the Committee on Ministerial Relations. Bob was Stated Clerk of the Presbytery from 1986-1991.
Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rose; daughter, Debra, wife of Jack Herlocker; daughter, Nanci, wife of Rick Caskey; son, R. Douglas, husband of Lynne; son, W. Scott, husband of Jan; six grandchildren: Stephanie, married to John; Kevin, married to Janice; Nicole, Stacey, Joelle, Jarid.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service at the First United Methodist Church, corner of Duke and Walnut Sts., Lancaster, PA on SUNDAY, September 19th, at 3:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on THURSDAY, September 2nd, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers.
