R. Gordon Yoder
R. Gordon Yoder, 91, of Meadow Ridge, Willow Valley, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2010. Born in McPherson, KS, he was the son of the late Rev. W. H. and Elva Herr Yoder. He was married to Glee Goughnour Yoder who died in 2005 after 66 years of marriage.
A graduate of Orange Township High School, South Waterloo, Iowa, and McPherson College (Kansas), he returned to McPherson College as Business Manager for 26 years after serving in World War II. After retiring to Willow Valley in 1986, he and his wife enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and many places around the world. He was a member of the Lancaster Church of the Brethren.
Gordon is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Robert Kauffman of Quarryville, and grandchildren and their families, Jeffrey and Elizabeth Emmert, Alexander, Andrew, and Persephone of Salisbury, MD, and Sherilyn and Philip Johnson, Kyle and Rachel of Quarryville. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Alberta, and a brother, Wilbur.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Meadow Ridge, Willow Valley for their care and support.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 30th, at the auditorium at Meadow Ridge, Willow Valley, 925 Willow Valley Lakes Dr., Willow Street, PA. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heifer International, 1 World Ave., Little Rock, AR 72202.
