
Pauline Brown, 98 years old, of Homestead Village passed away October 20, 2023. She was born November 26, 1924, in Manns Choice, Bedford County, PA. Daughter of the late Samuel and Grace (Hillegass) Crissey. She was preceded in death by her late husband George E. Brown who died on April 12, 1996, after 52 years of marriage, her daughter Georgia Hess and her siblings Pearl Turner, Earl Crissey, Stella Clark, Fred Crissey, and a half sister Winifred Weaver all from the Bedford, PA. area.
During her early years as a wife and homemaker her family lived on “Cabbage Hill”. After her three children were raised, she went to work for Shenks Extract. Pauline and George enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the United States, dancing and playing cards.
Mrs. Brown was a charter member of Church of the Apostles, UCC where she was an active member serving as Deacon and President of the Council at the time of the merger of St. John’s and St. Paul’s UCC in 1974.
Survivors include her children, Gary G. Brown, husband of Virginia, Karen Phifer, wife of Kenneth, son-in-law, Robert Hess and six grandchildren, Susan Vollmar, Sharon Martin, Kendra Lappa, Michael Phifer, Brian Hess, and Kevin Hess. She had eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Internment at Church of Apostles Memorial Garden will be held privately.
Her family would like to add a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Homestead Village for the loving and compassionate care they provided.

We are so sorry to hear of Pauline’s passing. She was one wonderful woman, funny, full of life and energy! I have so many wonderful memories of her growing up. Especially at the Camp Minsi retreats. Loved her so much! She will surely be missed!

I have fond memories of Pauline and her husband and family members. She was so kind, thoughtful and gracious. She would go to the highest degree for anyone.
