Paulette “Polly” Anne (Thorington) Snyder, 80, spouse of the late Larry Snyder, passed away at her residence in Lancaster, PA, on January 30, 2026.
Polly was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 4, 1945. She was a graduate of Governor Livingston Regional High School in Berkeley Heights, NJ. She attended Mansfield State College, majoring in home economics. It was there where she met her future husband and where they loved to drive around together in his red Mustang.
Polly was a caring mother to her two daughters and was devoted to her family. In her time, she would have given the later arriving Martha Stewart competition with her domestic creativity and know-how. Polly loved to bake and cook and was always doing things for others.
She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Lancaster, where she was a member of the choir, at times prepared and offered children sermons, and creatively decorated the church bulletin boards and displays in the Christian Education wing hallway.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Luke & Claudia Thorington; and a twin sister, Penelope “Penne” Van Buskirk. She is survived by her daughters, Kelly Hein of Campbelltown; and Jody Snyder of Lancaster; siblings Natalie Thorington of Belfast, Maine; Dan Thorington of Williamstown, Vermont; and Jon Thorington of Etolin Island, Alaska; and a grandson, Matthew Hein of Philadelphia.
A public memorial service honoring Polly’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 24 at 11a.m. with an hour of family visitation preceding the service at 10 a.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Presbyterian Church, 25 N. West End Ave, Lancaster, PA 17603.
