Paul K. Emert, Sr., passed away on April 30, 2014, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his wife and best friend of nearly 50 years, Shirley Starnes Emert and infant son, Nathaniel Leroy. Paul was born September 1, 1931, in Sevierville, TN, to George and Bessie Maples Emert; he was the 9th of 11 children. Paul’s career spanned more than 50 years in various financial, sales, executive management and entrepreneurial positions with Pet Dairy, Stuckey’s Candy, Franklin Foods and the ownership of several dry cleaning operations.
Paul enjoyed golf with friends and family during career stops in Macon, GA; Waycross, GA; Johnson City, TN; Eastman, GA; Columbia, SC and Greeneville, TN. In recent years, he enjoyed bowling in senior leagues and with Paul III in Lancaster, PA. They also shared a love of Atlanta Braves baseball and Tennessee Volunteer sports. Paul was a lifelong Methodist. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kit and Pam Emert of Lancaster, PA, four grandchildren – Jessica of Knoxville, TN; Jennifer of Washington, DC; Georgia and Paul III of Lancaster, PA, and one brother, Bill, of Dandridge, TN.
Services will be held at Rawlings Funeral Home, 212 Court Ave, Sevierville, TN 37862, at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 5, 2014. A visitation will also be held at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Asbury United Methodist Church in Greeneville, TN, or the charity of choice.
