On July 25th, 2025, Paul James Flowers passed away after a long illness in his Lancaster City home. He was the husband of Connie J. (Wennerholt) Flowers, to whom he was married for 49 years.
Born at Trier Air Base in Bitburg, Germany. He was the son of the late retired Master Sargent Ray J. and Sylvia J. (Goldsmith) Flowers. He also lived in Florida, Mississippi, and West Berlin, Germany before his father retired back to his hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
After graduating from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1974, Paul enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving as crew chief for F-4 jet planes. After his military service he returned to Lancaster. Paul earned his machinist and tool-and-die maker certifications while working at Theo R. Schwalmb and Hamilton (Bulova) Technologies. He eventually retired from Lancaster Newspapers where he worked as a maintenance machinist.
Paul is survived by his children: Elizabeth A., wife of Matthew L. Hart, of St Louis, Missouri, Daniel P., and Eric J. of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his two grandchildren and a sister: Dianna L., wife of Albert Koenig of Lancaster, Pennsylvania as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Paul’s dedication to his work and his contributions to his community will be remembered by all who knew him.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a funeral service at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home at 141 E. Orange Street, Lancaster on July 31st, 2025 at 11 AM. A visitation will be held at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Centerville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice and Community Care 685 Good Drive P.O. Box 4125 Lancaster, PA 17604-4125. This organization helped so very much in making the last year of Paul’s life as comfortable as possible.
