Patricia Hogg Donnelly, 96, passed away on the 17th of February 2026 at Homestead Village, Lancaster, Pa. Her much-beloved husband Michael F. Donnelly Jr. predeceased her. Patricia was born in Lancaster, PA to Dr. Harold Kent Hogg and Julia Resser Hogg. She graduated from McCaskey High School in 1947. Patricia attended Wilson College and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Elizabethtown College in 1951. She attended graduate classes at Millersville University to attain her professional teaching certification. Patricia began her career as a middle school English teacher at Penn Manor Middle School in 1965 and thoroughly loved her work with the students until her retirement in 1990. She was awarded Outstanding Educator in 1984. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church.
Pat volunteered for many years as a reader for the Radio Talking Library for the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind. Pat also delivered Meals on Wheels for over 20 years and volunteered with the Manheim Township RSVP program.
Throughout her life, Pat was an avid reader. She was also a writer of memoirs, short stories, and poetry; in her later years she diligently kept a daily journal. She had a passion for British history and travelled to the UK numerous times. In her final years she deeply valued the meaningful relationships that she formed with her caregivers.
She is survived by her children: Julie Donnelly Adams (William), Philip Kent Donnelly (Nancy), and Jennifer Forrest Donnelly, as well as her grandchildren Sarah Donnelly Adams, Emily Shelton Adams, Anna Niles Donnelly (Jason Rothman), Leah Kent Donnelly (Matthew Kessler), and great grandchildren Matilda Donnelly Rothman and Louis Kent Kessler. She was pre-deceased by her brother Harold Kent Hogg Jr. (Kathleen)
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service in the manner of Friends (Quaker) at the Lancaster Friends Meetinghouse, 110 Tulane Terrace, Lancaster PA on April 18 at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Patricia’s memory to Power Packs Project which provides meals for local children and their families. Contributions can be made online at powerpacksproject.org or by check to Power Packs Project, 1915 Olde Homestead Lane, Suite 102, Lancaster, PA 17601.
