Nathan “Nate” James McClatchy

Nathan “Nate” James McClatchy lived a beautiful 18 years and rested peacefully on May 3rd, 2023 in Marietta, PA.

Nathan is survived by his parents, Christine and Michael McClatchy of Marietta, PA, sisters, Mariah Reilly, Bridget McClatchy, and Abigail McClatchy. He is preceded in death by twin brother Lucas McClatchy. Nathan was born November 29th, 2004, in Wynnewood, PA to Christine and Michael McClatchy. He attended Donegal High School where he was a junior.

Everyone who met Nathan knew he was a passionate kid. He had many interests which included video games, Pokémon, anime, Mario, and Nintendo characters. He lit up when you would ask him a question about whatever topic was on his mind that day. He did not hesitate to share his knowledge with others around him and would gladly seek out new information when presented to him.

He was completely honest in his emotions and how he felt at any given time and never hesitated to share his thoughts. His parents and sisters remember him as a very sweet and loving kid with an infectious smile that would brighten anyone’s day. He is remembered for his amazing sense of humor and timing and would bring laughter and joy to everyone around him.

The family wants to extend heartfelt gratitude to Nathan’s teacher and classmates who supported him and pushed him to be his best self.

Services are to be held Tuesday May 23rd, 2023 at 11:00 am at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 East Orange Street Lancaster, PA 17602.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Nathan’s life.

    Mr and Mrs McClatchy,

Thank you for sharing Nathan with us for two years.

His passion for his interests, his sense of humor, and his bigger than life laugh will stick with us all.

If you need anything, please reach out.

We miss him sorely, and can not imagine the heaviness you feel as his loss.

Here’s to anything yellow and to Mario and Princess Peach and to all the times he smiled.

Mr McCreary and Nathan’s friends from Gym and his classmates (Donegal High School)

Sending so much love to the family. Back in MHS Bridget used to be my roommate in middle school and she would speak so high and kindly of all of her siblings, especially Nathan!

    Sending love and healing ❤️

Nathan was such a loving soul. What I will miss most are his famous hugs. He would give the biggest hugs hello and goodbye and then at the most random times he would just walk up and hug you for no reason at all. When I would see him I would always scream his name “NATHAN MCCLATCHY!!!” and he would light up with the biggest smile. I am going to miss that smile so much at our family gatherings. I am sad for all of us as we mourn the loss of our beloved Nathan! May you rest in peace, Nate!

Nothing can prepare a parent for the loss of a child. How tragic your family has had to endure such loss twice. My heart is heavy as I try to find the right words to offer comfort ;the words I search for do not exist. Instead, I pray you feel the warmth of love and support I send to all of you. I did not have the privilege to know Nathan., I was blessed to hear about him through Hillary and Mariah. May the memory of his infectious smile shine bright on all those that loved him.
