Nancy Josephine Kirsch September 1, 1934 – October 16, 2025 Lancaster
Nancy Josephine (Smith) Kirsch (91) went home to the Good Lord on Thursday, October 16th, 2025. Born September 1, 1934 in Silver Springs, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Francis Smith and Frances Reba (Gilbert) Smith.
Nancy worked various jobs including as a machine operator at Star Dental. Most notably, she helped work on the B-1 bomber parts and scatter bombs while serving as an assembler and inspector for Ferranti. She was the best of mothers, and many called her the “neighborhood mom.” She loved her family. She enjoyed animals, garage sales, gardening, travel, and poetry. She was known as a strong woman of great faith.
She was the last surviving member of her family, preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Frederick James Kirsch, her 3 brothers Samuel, Paul, and Donald Smith, and 2 sisters Reba (Joan) Good and Sarah (Sally) Fisher. She is survived by her 3 children (from her previous marriage to Warren Gantz Brubaker) Stephanie Strickland of Lancaster, Warren Randall Brubaker husband of Sandra (Siver) Brubaker of Millersville, and Marvel (Brubaker) Zahm wife of James Zahm of Lancaster. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
A private graveside funeral will be held for family where she will be laid to rest at Laurel Hills Cemetery in Columbia on Wednesday, October 22nd with the Pastor Chip Toews officiating.
