Mary Ann Muckel, 89, of Lancaster, died on December 24, 2023, at her daughter’s residence. She was the daughter of the late Myrtle Elizabeth Kennedy and Paul W. Muckel.
Known as “Nanny” by friends and family she is the last of the girls in a family of ten.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Esther Brought, Pauline Rivera and Doris Brosey; and four brothers: Paul, Donald, Richard and Robert.
She is survived by two brothers, James and Edward; a daughter, Karen Yocum (wife of Gary) and a son Kenneth Muckel (husband of Tracy).
She is also survived by five grandchildren, Dea, Blaine, Chad, Tyler and Cody; four great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews-especially Nicole Stewart, Morgan McCollough and Raeann Strenger.
Special recognition to nieces Candy Melvin and Maria Rivera for their care and compassion throughout Mary’s illness.
Mary had worked as a housekeeper at the former Host Farm for over 20 years and at Lancaster General Hospital for over 9 years.
Along with her fondness for anything sweet, she was also an avid bingo and lottery player.
Services for Mary will be held at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 11:00 am with the Reverend Norman Strenger officiating. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will be in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
