Mary “Lynn” Davis Pierce passed peacefully surrounded by family at Trillium Place, Lancaster, PA on Monday, October 20, 2026.
Lynn was born to Mary Anna Guiler Davis and LaVerne Harmon Davis on December 27, 1949. She grew up in Mercer PA where she was a National Honor Society student who eagerly participated in chorus, plays, Prom Court, and cheerleading for the Mercer Mustang 1967 State Champion Basketball Team. A member of the Mercer United Methodist Church, she sang in the choir and participated in Youth Group.
She attended Clarion State College where she met her future husband Gregory Wade Pierce. They were married in 1968 and she gave birth to their son Mark David in 1969. The family moved to Pittsburgh where Lynn gave birth to their daughter Erin Lynn, completed her undergraduate degrees at Pitt, and proceeded to graduate school to achieve her Masters in Speech Language Pathology at California University of PA.
The family relocated to Danville and Lynn began her professional career as a Speech Therapist. She quickly rose through the ranks of manager, district manager, consultant and became Executive Director of Therapy for Diakon Social Service’s 17 nursing homes. Lynn was very active in Trinity United Methodist Church where she and Greg co-chaired a Capital Campaign that nearly doubled the church facilities. She also started a Steven Ministry program for the church, and they participated in numerous Lay Witness Missions. Lynn sang in the church and Danville Community choirs.
In 2002 they relocated to Lancaster County where Lynn became disabled. She quickly assumed an active role as volunteer Congregational Care Coordinator for Lititz United Methodist Church, also serving on the Pastor Parrish Relations Committee. She also counseled young girls through her work with Susquehanna Valley Pregnancy Services.
Lynn and Greg moved to Woodcrest Villa in 2023. She made many dear friends with staff members and exchanged love and hugs with staff until her untimely passing. The family is extremely grateful for the loving care she received in the Lititz Run household.
Lynn was a brilliant woman, driven to career excellence yet extremely compassionate, generous, and helpful to those in need. She loved her dogs, hiking, cooking, Bible study, theater, singing, travel, especially to the Holy Lands, and time with her grandchildren.
Lynn leaves behind son Mark David Pierce (Denise) of Yardley PA, daughter Erin Lynn Pierce (Jeffrey Ruder) of Pittsburgh, grandchildren Kristen Pierce (Stephen Boyle) of Levittown PA, Rachel Haensgen (Tyler) of Menominee Falls, WI, Jacob Pierce of Philadelphia, Madeline Ruder of Philadelphia, and Norman Ruder of Meadville (Allegheny College) PA. Great grandchildren, Parker Boyle, Teddy Boyle and Maya Haensgen. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother David (Barbara Davis).
Funeral Services are under the direction of DeBord Snyder Funeral Home with a memorial service at Lititz United Methodist Church on Saturday Oct 31, 2026. A visitation at 10am, service at 11am, and internment immediately afterwards in the church’s Memorial Garden; and a lunch at the Appalachian Brewery Company, 55 North Water Street at 12:30pm. Lynn suggests memorial contributions to her church, St. Jude’s Hospital or the Benevolent Care program at Tandem Living, ATTN Kim Peters, 2001 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster PA 17601.
