Marion H. Kempf, 97, of Lancaster, passed away on March 12, 2026, at Brethren Village Retirement Community. She was the loving wife of the late Walter R. Kempf who proceed her in death in 2015.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Marion (Letham) Hartman.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from Columbia University, she spent part of her professional career as a physical therapist for the Lancaster County Society for Crippled Children, working with Edna Schreiber. She then dedicated her life to making a wonderful home for her family.

In her spare time, she enjoyed oil painting, the outdoors, her family’s dogs, and following the athletic and musical activities of her grandchildren. She was a member of the Lancaster County Art Association and the American Physical Therapy Association.

Marion was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster where she was active in the choir.

Surviving is a daughter, Barbara Frey (widow of Harold) of Conestoga; son Dwight (wife Jill) of Orefield, PA; grandchildren: Carlyn Fryberger (husband Wade) of Millersville, Sharon Frey (partner Edward Contreras) of San Antonio, TX., Caitlin Clever (husband Adam) of Phillipsburg, Alexandra Malys (husband Bob) of Pittsburgh; and great grandchildren: Heath Fryberger of Millersville, Owen Fryberger of Millersville, and Eleanor Clever of Phillipsburg. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Andrew Paul Hartman and Howard Hartman.

A Memorial Service will be held at Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM with Chaplain Dana Statler officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane League of Lancaster, 2195 Lincoln Hwy E.
