Marie J. “Dolly” Hurst

Marie J. “Dolly” Hurst, 90, died Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Hamilton Arms Center, Lancaster, PA. She was the wife of the late Richard P. Hurst who died in September, 2012.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Robert and A. Marie Harnish Eisch. Dolly graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1942. She was a magician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. She taught crafts to shut-ins at various nursing homes. Dolly was a drummer in the All Girl Orchestra and danced under the instruction of Miss Billie.

She is survived by a daughter, Dawn Hertzog; granddaughters, Sherry Witmer and Jill Myers; great granddaughters, Seria Witmer and Alyssa Myers, and sister-in-law, Diane, wife of Roy Esbenshade.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Brandon M. Styer and a step-father, John O. Cross.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral from Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Friday, October 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Debra J. Schreiber officiating.   Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Interment will be in Byerland Mennonite Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dolly’s memory may be sent to the Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602
