Luther D. “Luke” Dunlap

Luther D. “Luke” Dunlap, of Willow Street, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Lancaster Regional Medical Center. Born in Lancaster on July 26, 1922, he was the son of the late John Mylin and Stella Goss Dunlap. He was a 1941 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, and attended Stevens Trade School. He then worked at Bearings Company from 1941 to 1950.

During WWII, he was a sergeant in the U. S. Air Force where he served in Europe as an air craft machinist. After serving in the military, he worked at the former RCA Corp. as a tool and die maker, and tool and die analyst from 1950-1986. After retiring, he was a consultant for RCA in Indiana and at Johnson & Hoffman of Long Island.

His interests included woodworking, model trains, history, and reading. He attended St. Andrew United Church of Christ.

He was the husband of the late Thelma Geist Dunlap who died in January of 2008.

He is survived by his daughter, Davetta, and granddaughter, Keri, both of Willow Street, and sister, Sylvia wife of John Glick of Leola. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Caroline Groff and Melba Keppel.

Funeral services will be held from the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, on Friday at 10 AM with interment following in Willow Street Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 10 AM at the funeral home on Friday. Memorials may be made to Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard, P.O. Box 8601, Lancaster, PA 17604.
