
Lois York West passed onto Heaven on December 24, 2012. Born in Mars Hill, Maine on May 29, 1929, she was the daughter of Violet Varney and Floyd E York. Lois is survived by her devoted husband Kenneth A. West. The Wests have resided at Calvary Fellowship Homes in Lancaster since September of 2007. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in August.
Lois is survived by five children: Douglas West of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Randi McCown of Marietta, Georgia, Peter West of Telford, PA, Nancy Heavner of Landisville, PA and Kenneth Y. West of Souderton, PA. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, three great grand children and was preceded in death by siblings; Nancy and Richard.
Lois has been a devout Christian from a very young age. After her faith and family, Lois always placed great emphasis on education and a search for knowledge. She was proud to have received her Bachelor’s degree from Gordon College and her Master’s degree from Boston University. Lois was a homemaker, an educator and an avid reader.
Services will be held from the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 East Orange Street, Lancaster on Friday, December 28. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, followed immediately by an 11:30 AM service. A brief, 2:00 PM interment ceremony will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Moody Bible Institute, 820 N. LaSalle Blvd., Chicago, Illinois, 60610-3284 in Lois’s name.
