Lois E. Boughter

Lois E. Boughter, 90, of Lancaster, passed away on May 20, 2024 at Luther Acres Retirement Community.  She was the loving wife of Carroll L. Boughter, Jr. to whom she was married to for 69 years.  They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on November 21st.  

Born in Lancaster, PA she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Frances (Hammel) Hurst.

After graduating from J.P. McCaskey High School, she started her career in the typing pool at Armstrong World Industries.  She left Armstrong when she started her family and became a full-time wife, mother and church volunteer.  

Lois was a longtime member of St Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was an active volunteer and enjoyed singing in the choir and served on the Church Council. 

In her spare time, Lois enjoyed knitting, reading, gardening and choir.

In addition to her husband, Carroll, she is survived by her sons; Courtney Boughter and Theron Boughter (husband of Amy); grandson, Noah Boughter. Also surviving are her nieces:  Cynthia Shaub, Deborah Regar, Diana Smeltzer, Barbara Smeltzer and Suzanne Adams. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by Gerald Hurst.  

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service in the Chapel of Luther Acres, 600 E Main St, Lititz, PA 17543 on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM.  A visitation will be held in the chapel from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.  Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Conestoga Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P.O.
