Leta Mary Barton

Leta M. (Lesher) Barton, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully the morning of May 29, 2026. She was 100 years old.

Born in Lancaster in 1926, Leta was one of fifteen children born to John F. and Elizabeth (Trimble) Lesher.

In 1952, she married Kenneth G. Barton, with whom she shared nearly forty years of marriage until his passing in 1991.

Leta found joy in bowling, continuing the sport into her 80s, and loved country music, especially Alan Jackson and Patsy Cline, often singing along to her favorite songs. She also enjoyed reading romance novels and completing crossword puzzles.

Throughout her life, Leta worked a variety of jobs, from candy-making in her younger years to babysitting later in life. Many of the children she cared for remained in touch with her into adulthood, reflecting the lasting impact she made.

Leta is survived by her son, Kenneth Barton Sr. (Tanya); daughter, Carol Barton; as well as her (favorite) grandson, Kenny Barton, and granddaughters, Kara, Hannah, and Janae Barton. She is also survived by a brother Roy of Winnsboro, SC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In her later years, Leta resided at Masonic Village, where she was received amazing care and love from her caretakers.

Visitation will be held at the DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 on Friday, June 19th, 2026 from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM. Interment will follow in private at a later date.
