Katharine “Kit” E. Seidel, 91, of Willow Valley Manor North, formerly of Hershey’s Mill, West Chester, PA, died March 24, 2009 at Lancaster General Hospital.

Born in Mount Vernon, NY, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Alfred C. and Alma Batty Emmel.

She attended Northfield Seminary and graduated from Mount Holyoke College. Her working career culminated as an Administrative Assistant at The Seeing Eye, the original U.S. guide-dog school for the blind, in Morristown, NJ.

She is survived by her husband, Robert R. Seidel, to whom she was married for twenty-three years. She is also survived by sons Richard E. Taylor, J. Cortland Taylor, George R. Taylor, and David H. Taylor and their spouses; and by daughters Katharine T. Campbell and Rebecca T. Burgwald and their spouses. Also by stepchildren Suzanne S. Evans, Cynthia S. Silver, and Robert C. Seidel and their spouses. She took great pride in her twenty-four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Lancaster singing in the choir and was active in the Women’s Circle. At Willow Valley, she sang in the Manor North Chorus and later the Chorale, and enjoyed acting in Reader’s Theatre.

Kit loved life and lived it to the fullest. A Memorial Service will be held at the Johnson Auditorium at Willow Valley Manor North on Monday, March 30th at 11:00 A.M. The family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
