My heart aches for your loss. What a wonderful woman of God! I remember when my sister-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer, she gave a prayer shawl to Jodi for me to give to her. Such a big heart! Find peace and comfort knowing she has spread her wisdom, love, and faith to all of you.

Twila was a beautiful and happy third grade student when I taught that class at Locust Grove Mennonite School. Her parents were also very supportive during those young years. A special lady in my memories of her as a child as well as an adult. She will be missed by family and friends.

My condolences to Joe and the rest of the family! I appreciated knowing Julia since our high school years. She and I sat by each other in Tour Choir at Eastern Mennonite High School when Julia would often switch from her alto section to the tenor section to support the tenors, one of whom was me. It’s hard to imagine the world without her quiet spirit and enduring smile. I am sure I am not the only one who will miss her deeply. I celebrate her life and I join the family in giving thanks to God for the gift of her life.

Joe and family, our prayers for all of you as you adjust to life without dear Julia! I always thought of her as the beautiful tall girl with the gorgeous bright smile who married my cousin Joe! She was ALWAYS kind and interested in our ‘goings on’ whenever the Hershey Clan got together! She lived a life of faith and love and, I know, that spirit lives on in her children and grands❤️. Gone too soon from this crazy world, but joining the legions of angels in heaven, and pain free! May God wrap his loving arms around you all and give you peace❤️!

I am sorry to hear this. I always remember our childhood adventures together, getting thrown or scraped off ornery horses and chasing after them down Oregon Road, finally resorting to saddling up the ram and riding him; riding bikes to each other’s house; helping milk the cows; hiking in the woods; the friendships between our same-aged siblings and our parents…lots of dirt and joy and laughter and ice cream. It’s hard to take it in that we have reached the time in our lives where we must endure these losses. My condolences to Joe and your children and grandchildren, and to Eunice, Jerry, Dan, Carol, Kathleen, and Twila. Comfort to you all.

I have fond memories of working with Julia at the YWCA pool. I also guarded and taught lessons there and our paths often crossed. I especially remember the many times we would run into each other at Costco , Julia with grandchild in toe, and me with one of my kids -sharing stories and feeding the kids their lunch from the free samples around the store. Please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss of this wonderful woman.

Meeting Julia several years ago at the Greenfield pool was a special joy. We shared stories of our common interests; swimming, lifeguarding and the many young folks we had worked with. I especially loved watching her interact with the young people who were old enough to swim without their parents present. She took an interest in them, bringing out not only big smiles, but the best in all of them. A true joy.

Wow, the heart is never prepared and ready to say good-bye. Especially at this time in life when life is experiencing children maturing and grandchildren full of life. Julia will be remembered by many of her friends at Universal. She was always there to assist Twila when one of us needed a water noodle or another aqua item, or to do anything that needed done to have the classes run smoothly. I have neat memories of her and her sweetheart and grands out at the farm for a Universal picnic. So as you walk this journey please know that you are not alone, but thought of, cared about, and prayed for God’s comfort and peace during this very sad and difficult time. Elsie Wiley and I am sure representing a lot of Universal friends.
