Julia Murphy-Maxwell

Julia Murphy-Maxwell, age 93, of Little Egg Harbor Township passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025 after a brief Illness.

Julia was preceded in death by her husband John Maxwell of New Gretna. She was also preceded in death by her four brothers; Weldon Murphy of Miami, Richard and Edward Murphy of Little Egg Harbor and Robert Murphy of Whiting New Jersey. She is survived by her nephew Robert G. Murphy of Thompsontown, Pennsylvania, her dear friend Barbara Godfrey of Bayonne New Jersey and many, many friends.

Julia was the kind of person who would light up any room she was in.

She was always upbeat and her positivity was contagious. Professionally she was a registered nurse. She graduated from East Orange General Hospital

School of Nursing and spent most of her adult life as a nurse at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.

Her life was devoted to the service of others. In addition to caring for patients in the hospital she volunteered to drive the elderly in need of transportation to and from their doctor appointments. She was a volunteer at the food bank of Tuckerton and the food pantry of Burton Memorial United Methodist Church in Tavernier Florida. Julia also was as a volunteer at Mariners hospital in Tavernier. For many years she was an usher at Saint Theresa Roman Catholic Church in Little Egg Harbor. She donated to many charities believing that we all share the responsibility of improving the lives of others.

Those wishing to honor Julia may do so by “paying it forward” by showing compassion to those less fortunate and doing a kind deed for them. Donations in her name may also be made to Catholic charities, Diocese of Trenton.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, 450 Radio Rd., Little Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08087 on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 11:00 AM.  A private interment will follow the service.
