Joyce A. Fair, 85, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, entered into the presence of the Lord on Monday, October 19, 2026, at her home. Born in Lancaster, she was the beloved daughter of the late Lester and Mildred Brackbill.
Joyce dedicated her professional life to the service of others. As a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) at Country Meadows, her inherent warmth found its true calling. She had a profound love for caring for the elderly and formed deep, lasting bonds with her coworkers over the years.
Joyce shared 53 devoted years of marriage with her adored husband, Harry. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and fellowship, creating cherished memories through travels with family and friends, visits to mountain cabins, weekends in Ocean City, New Jersey, and camping trips to Camp Swatara. Yet, nothing compared to the joy she found in her role as "Grandma". Her three grandchildren were the absolute highlight of her life. Whether she was running through the house playing hide-and-seek tag, taking the dogs for walks, playing spirited games of Rummy or Rummikub, or cheering loudly from the sidelines at soccer, basketball and football games or track meets, every moment spent with them was treasured.
A woman of unwavering faith, Joyce began each morning with a devotional and leaned gently into the Bible, trusting God with all things, big and small. She was a natural community builder who fiercely valued relationships. From the friends she kept since childhood to the new connections she made along the way, Joyce made sure to stay deeply connected. In her quieter moments, she loved reading, gardening, staying active at the gym, solving the daily Wordle, and catching up with her Walking Club or her Elm Avenue gang.
Joyce’s legacy of faith, compassion, and love will be forever cherished by her children, Jeffrey Fair and Susan (William) Wattier; her grandchildren, Paxton, Mia, and Paisley; her brother, Clair (Kay) Brackbill; and her sister-in-law, Mona Fair. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry Fair, and her brother-in-law, DeWayne Fair.
The family extends its sincere gratitude to the dedicated caregivers and medical professionals at Inova Hospital in Loudoun, Virginia, Lancaster General Hospital, and Hospice & Community Care for the exceptional care and compassion provided to Joyce and her family.
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend a memorial service on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Community Fellowship Church, 344 W. Chestnut Street, Lancaster, PA. A fellowship luncheon will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joyce’s memory to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
