Jean-Paul Vassot

d. March 29, 2009

Jean-Paul Vassot, 66, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on March 29th at the Essa Flory Hospice Center, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in Tiaret, Algeria, on April 29, 1942, he was a French citizen and a permanent resident of the United States.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Yetter-Vassot, of Lancaster, and two daughters, Chloe and Olivia, both at home; a brother, Andre Vassot, and four nieces, all of whom reside in France. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Josette Serra of Toulouse, France, who succumbed to lung cancer eight weeks before her brother.

He was a talented craftsman whose passion was renovating and restoring his old Lancaster County farmhouse and barn. He was happiest when he was outside in his garden, or in his workshop, building things for his family. He was also a connoisseur of French wine and American jazz.

Jean-Paul was Global Supply Chain Manager for Sperian Eye & Face Protection, Inc. in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Previously, he worked for Wilson Safety Products in Reading, and before moving to Pennsylvania in 1987, he resided in Rouen, France, where he worked for Unisys.
