Jean S. Otthofer, 95, of Lancaster, passed away on July 11, 2026, at Homestead Village. She was the loving wife of the late Jacob A. Otthofer, Jr.
Jean was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to the late Charles Schmid and Mary (Foultz) Schmid.
She was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School. Jean devoted her life to her family as a homemaker, providing a warm and loving home throughout the years.
She was a faithful member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church.
In her spare time, Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and attending her great-grandchildren’s sporting events. She always had a cheerful smile and was a friend to all.
She is survived by her children: Diane Seidle, wife of John, of Lancaster, PA; David Otthofer, husband of Sue Davidson, of Lancaster, PA; Daniel Otthofer, husband of Jill Vogel, of East Petersburg, PA; Donna Glatthorn, wife of Ken, of Cudjoe Key, FL; and Regina Otthofer, fiancée of Rich Musser, of Port Orange, FL. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 3131 Columbia Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603 on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in the church memorial gardens.
Those attending the service are encouraged to wear orange, floral attire, or other bright, cheerful colors in honor of Jean’s wishes.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the caring staff at Homestead Village and Lancaster General Hospital for the compassionate care they provided to Jean. She loved her apartment and cherished the time she spent at Homestead Village.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jean’s memory may be made to Holy Spirit Lutheran Church or to the Hempfield Area Food Pantry, 75 Brandt Boulevard, Landisville, PA 17538.
