Jacob A. Otthofer, Jr. 98, of Lancaster, passed away on June 2, 2024 at Homestead Village. He was the loving husband of Jean (Schmid) Otthofer to whom he was married to for 73 years.
Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Jacob A. Otthofer, Sr. and Edna (Haus) Otthofer.
After graduating from high school, he proudly served in the US Navy during WWII as Seaman First Class. He was employed for many years at Armstrong World industries and had multiple patents in his name.
In his spare time, Jacob enjoyed spending time with family, working on cars, building his cabin, singing in the choir and hobbycore. He enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels and spending time in nature. He enjoyed making wine and sauerkraut.
Jacob was a member of Lancaster Liederkranz and a longtime member at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Lancaster.
In addition to his wife, Jean, he is survived by children, Diane Seidle (wife of John) of Lancaster, PA, David Otthofer (husband of Sue Davidson) of Lancaster, PA, Daniel Otthofer (husband of Jill Vogel) of East Petersburg PA, Donna Glatthorn (wife of Ken) of Cudjoe Key, FL and Regina Otthofer of Port Orange FL (fiancé of Rich Musser of Lancaster PA). Also surviving are grandchildren Ashley, Timothy, Danielle, Kate, Amy, Jessica, Samantha, Alex, Erika and 8 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 3131 Columbia Ave, Lancaster, PA 17603 on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Donations in his memory should be made to Hempfield Area Food Bank or Holy Spirit Lutheran Church.
