Jacob M. Esh

Jacob M. Esh, 85, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, entered into the arms of Jesus with his family by his side on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

He was the husband of the late Ruth Ann Esh. Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Elias and Katie Esh.

Jacob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and faithful member of his church and community. Known for his humility, steady faith, and strong work ethic, he lived a life centered on serving others.

Through the years, he served his church and community faithfully alongside his wife as a youth leader and later as a deacon couple. In these roles, he offered guidance, encouragement, and quiet leadership to many. In later years, he volunteered willingly at Trillium Place/Calvary Homes, serving in a variety of capacities and continuing his lifelong commitment to helping others.

During his career he owned his own business repairing automobiles and also worked for many years in specialized propane service.

He is survived by his children: Martha (Douglas) Rohrer, Samuel (Susan) Esh, J. Donald (Angela) Esh, and Douglas (Kelly) Esh; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by extended family and friends who will remember him fondly.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Chelsea Jane Yordy, and four siblings: Lydia Zook, Samuel, David, and Amos.

The family would like to thank the staff at Trillium Place and Hospice for the excellent care they provided for Dad over the last six months. He loved all of his caregivers, and they loved him.

Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Grace Church at Willow Valley, 300 Willow Valley Square, Lancaster, PA 17602. Private interment will take place at Pequea Brethren in Christ Cemetery.
