J. Michael Hoffer

J. Michael Hoffer, 82, of Lancaster, passed away on October 21, 2025 at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. He was the loving husband of Sharron (Long) Hoffer for 57 years.

Born in Manheim, PA, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Vera (Swarr) Hoffer.

After graduating from Manheim Central High School in 1961, he worked for many years at US Asbestos and later at Manheim Auto Auction.

He was a lifelong bowler as well as a youth bowling coach. For more than 40 years, he served on the Lancaster USBC Board, various committees for the Pennsylvania State USBC and as a delegate to the National USBC Annual Convention. He was honored for his service in the Lancaster USBC Bowling Hall of Fame. His other interests include geocaching, watching the Steelers and drag racing.

In addition to his wife, Sharron, he is survived by his two sons, John Hoffer (husband to Kitty Chan) of Columbia, MD and Douglas Hoffer of Lancaster, PA. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Scott (husband to Janine Hoffer) and Mark Hoffer and great-grandchildren Lucas and Maxwell Hoffer; and sister, Dorothy Swarr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Conestoga Memorial Park, 95 2nd Lock Rd, Lancaster, PA 17603.
