J. Harold “Butch” Kauffman, Jr., 88, of Landisville, was called from this earthly life to his eternal home by his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 20, 2010.
Mr. Kauffman was married 61 years to the late Helen G. Reapsome Kauffman who died in 2008. Born in East Hempfield Twp., he was the son of the late J. Harold, Sr. and Minnie Holbein Kauffman.
Harold was a long time farmer. He had also driven school bus for Getz Transportation and was a truck driver for Dutch Gold Honey. He was a graduate of Hempfield High School, and enjoyed bee keeping, spending time with his grandchildren and earlier in life enjoyed playing softball. He was a member of the Black Log Hunting Club. Harold was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Lancaster. Previously he had been a member of Word Of Life Chapel in Bainbridge where he had been a deacon.
Surviving are four sons, Jay H. husband of Alice Risser Kauffman of Marietta; Ben E. husband of Robin Shaner Kauffman of Manheim; Robin R. husband of Tracey Young Kauffman of Mount Joy; and Ronald R. husband of Patty S. Gerber Kauffman of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Stephanie, Bradley, Jessica, Jeffrey, Keith, Jonathan; two step-grandchildren, Josh and Serenity; four great grandchildren, Samuel, Chase, Caralyn and Katherine; two brothers, Richard H. husband of Eleanor Kauffman of Columbia, and Robert H. husband of Miriam Kauffman of Mount Joy; two sisters, Erma wife of Titus Stoner of Landisville and Anna Mae Kauffman of Landisville. He was preceded in death by a grandson Eric Kauffman.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Baptist Church of Lancaster, 1899 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Marvin E. Reich officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in the Landisville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Kauffman’s memory may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 or to Back to the Bible, P.O. Box 82808, 6400 Cornhusker Highway, Lincoln, NE 68501-2808.
