Ira U. Groff, III

Ira U. Groff, III, 95, formerly of Leola, passed away on November 20, 2025, at Brethren Village Retirement Community. He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy (Powell) Groff who passed away in 2003 after sharing 49 years together.

Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Ira U. Groff, Jr. and Margaret (Rodgers) Groff Andrews.

After graduating from J. P. McCaskey, Ira attended Franklin & Marshall College and then began his almost 50-year career at RCA as an engineering technician. It was briefly interrupted when he was drafted into the Army.

When he wasn’t working, Ira enjoyed gardening, hunting and was an avid fisherman. He faithfully attended Zion Lutheran Church and volunteered there in many ways. However, what he enjoyed most was being with family and friends and spending time at Sweetwood Hunting Camp.

He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Beitzel (wife of Samuel) of Lancaster. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Rose Mary Ressel, Patsy Geyer, and Peggy Ingle.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Zion Lutheran Church, 18 Quarry Rd, Leola, PA 17540 on Friday, December 12 at 11:00 AM. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Inurnment will follow in Trumbauer Memorial Cemetery.
