Herbert Hoover

Herbert Hoover, formerly of Dexter, NY, passed away at home on Monday morning. He was 74.

He was born in Evans Mills, NY on March 29, 1936 to Earl and Gertrude Hoover. He served in the 3rd Infantry Regiment, The Old Guard, of the Army from 1955 – 1958. He married the love of his life, Shirley, on October 11, 1968 in Dexter where he lived until his retirement from Car Freshener Corporation in 2006. Herb never met a stranger and made friends instantly with everyone he met.

He is survived by his sons, Clark & Wendy Hoover of Lancaster, PA and Brad & Katie Hoover of Corpus Christi, TX; a son-in-law, Steven Crawford of Beavercreek, OH; four grandchildren with one on the way, as well as one great-grandchild on the way. He is also survived by three sisters and one brother, all living in New York. He was predeceased in death by his wife Shirley, his daughter Valerie Crawford, his parents, and two sisters.

A burial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on April 16, 2010 at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Herby’s honor to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
