Helen (Martin) Strathmeyer, 93, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023.  She was the loving wife of the late James M. Strathmeyer.

Born in Strasburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Ruth (Groff) Martin.

She was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey in 1947.

Helen worked in the woman’s department at Sears for 25 years.

She was an active member of Grandview United Methodist Church.

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, traveling and reading.  She was an avid NY Yankees and Duke basketball fan. She loved listening to the music of big bands, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.

She is survived by children, Cynthia Kob (wife of David), Jim Strathmeyer (husband of Maureen), Gerry Strathmeyer (husband of Dee), Sara Strathmeyer, Joe Strathmeyer (companion of Yvette Stokes). Also survived by her sister, Jean Anderson and sister-in-law, Jan Martin; grandchildren, Jessica, Mikayla, Jim, Marci, Jeremy and Jaimie; great grandchildren, Abby, Mara, Caden, Jimmy, Ryan, Kody, Brody and Kathryn and Jean Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and late husband, she was predeceased by siblings, Truman “Jake” Martin and his wife, Norma, Mildred “Millie” Bunting, Melvin “Pepper” Martin and his wife Lorraine, Robert Martin and his wife, Carol, and John Martin.  Also predeceased by her brother-in-law, James Anderson.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Moravian Manor in Lititz who lovingly cared for her since she moved there in June 2021.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 E.
