Harry Ewing Fussenegger Jr., 91, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Oak Leaf Manor South, where he had resided for the past two years. He was the loving husband of the late Joyce Ann Fussenegger, with whom he would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on June 11, 2026.
Born in Lancaster, PA, on November 18, 1934, he was the son of the late Harry and Anna (Adams) Fussenegger.
Harry graduated from Manor-Millersville High School (now Penn Manor) in 1952. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. Following his military service, Harry enjoyed a long career with Slaymaker Lock Company, where he worked for more than 30 years until its closure. He subsequently held various positions before spending several years assisting with Dantro Associates, the business owned by his eldest daughter and son-in-law.
Harry embraced life with enthusiasm and found his greatest happiness in spending time with his family. An avid bowler, he participated in two bowling leagues for many years. He also treasured the time he spent coaching his daughters' softball teams during their childhood.
A devoted Notre Dame football fan since boyhood, Harry rarely missed a game and proudly considered himself one of the Fighting Irish's biggest supporters. His passion for the team even earned him recognition in a Notre Dame magazine. Beyond football, Harry enjoyed following a variety of sports, birdwatching, grilling, playing cards, and sharing good food with family and friends. He had a particular fondness for snacks and seafood.
Harry is survived by his four daughters: Wendy Bender of Millersville; Heidi Merritt and her husband, Jon, of York; Jill Fussenegger of Mountville; and Jodi Rambler and her husband, Lee, of Lancaster. He is also survived by his three granddaughters, Megan and Emily Merritt and Marissa Rambler; and his sister, Karen Andrews and her husband, Mike, of Mountville.
In addition to his beloved wife, Joyce, as well as his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Fussenegger.
