Gladys G. Carroll, 102, of Lancaster, triumphed over a life well lived and crossed over into Glory and into the presence of Our God and Savior as she died at home on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 following a short illness.

Born August 19, 1908 in Grantsburg, WI, she was the daughter of the late Albert C. and Esther Thorssen Swanson. In 1991 she celebrated 54 years of marriage as the wife of the late Patrick F. Carroll.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Lancaster; enjoyed Bible Study and was known as the “family prayer warrior” a function she took very seriously. Her other interests included crocheting, sewing, knitting and hosting guests in her home.

In addition to living in Lancaster for the past 10 years she had been a resident of Calgary, Alberta, Canada for 18 years; St. Paul, MN for 40 years; and Great Falls, MT for 7 years.

Surviving is a daughter, Joanne M. Carroll, also of Lancaster. Surviving also are two grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, five great grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by siblings, Stewart N. Swanson, the Rev. Earl D. Swanson and Esther A. Swanson.

A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at Grace Baptist Church of Lancaster, 1899 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Dr. Robert Haslam officiating. Friends may greet the family following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Richard A.
